Ladies Bracelet final presentation. Joyful Hawk box 3.

Australian news

Busy week at work after my quick aussie journey has done and it's time to think back what happened down under?

When Joyful Hawk took the place in the final we thought, damn, "Jo Jo" is in the group2-final(*. That must be seen. At Tuesday afternoon I wasn't sure if I could go, but next morning I was sitting in the plane.

Through Amsterdam and Kuala Lumpur I arrived  Sydney at thursday evening. At the airport the drugdog was keen on my trousers (smelling greyhounds, I think), customs officer grubbed all my luggage and I explained what's going on. After that all the officers listened to my expert betting tips to the final.

If Joyful Hawk (3) and her kennelmate Dosarg (7) would have been boxed opposite, they might have taken the double! Dosarg jumped very strongly inside and Jo Jo took little bit outside as usual. They collided and Jo Jo almost had to stop. After that 5th place was a gallant run. After the race I found out that Ladies Bracelet is the richest open aged female race and has been run almost 40 years!

From Sydney it took 12 hours driving down to Melbourne, where I spent a week with Carol&John Westerlo. Feeding the dogs, walking, galloping, musclecare. We were  trialing dogs at Cranbourne and Warragul At thursday night John had 3 dogs at Sandown Park.  Whata Whiz (Fire Whiz - Continuty), Dosarg (Yo Yo's Boy - Right Gear) and Jo Jo. All three were betting favorites. It was the first cityrace for Whata Whiz and finished 4th was a nice debut. Dosarg was still tired after hard final and she wasn't on her best. Jo Jo made a good run and was 2nd, just over lenght behind the winner.

The week went fast and it was time to say good bye all our aussie friends. I got lots of experiences, magazines and videos (and VB). The next big race for Joyful Hawk will be the group1 race, Laurels, for bitches whelped after 1.3.2000.  Hopefully it's Reiska's turn to go and see the final!
